There's an app that I really like which is called Voice Notes. I use it every day and sometimes I just record things that I've done. So I might be standing in the middle of Daffodil Field with the sheep and I'll just talk about my day or what the sheep are doing or anything like that. Recently, they've added a new function which is the ability to create a publication. I have a general one which is just me waffling on about different daily things, but I thought it would be fun to have one for Sage and Siren. Then I can talk a little bit about perhaps some of the ideas that I'm thinking of, some of the guests that I've got on my podcast, some of the books I'm reading, anything related really. So that's what I've done.
So this morning I created the new publication. I've linked to it in the menu of my sub stack and this is the first recording. So let me tell you about Stacy Vajta. She and I last week, I think it was on Friday, had the most amazing conversation about all sorts of things. A lot of it is around menopause, post-menopause, turning 60, and we discovered that our birthdays were within a day of each other which was just mind-blowing because so much of what Stacy talks about and writes is stuff that just really resonates. So I think it's safe to say that Stacy is a kindred spirit and we're hoping that we'll have more conversations which will be fantastic.
So I'm just finalising that podcast. I've just got a bit of editing to do and then it should be live hopefully at the weekend. Generally, my plan was to publish podcast episodes on a Sunday, so I think I'll stick to that and I will let you know when this one goes live. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did recording it with Stacy. She also told me about a book called Red Moon Passage which is by a woman called Bonnie Horrigan and it's kind of a compilation of writing by different women. I think it was published, when was it published, 1985 I think it was, no 1996.
Yeah, it was one that Stacy really recommended and she had lots of post-its marking different pages. So yeah, I've just got this and I've just started reading it and already there's lots of stuff in it that is very interesting. I don't think we realise these things until we actually cross this threshold and I had no idea about the menopause. We do talk a little bit about this in the podcast, but my mum's version of the menopause was, it was the end, it was the change, it was a bit of a pejorative term and yeah, it was kind of like game over. But my experience has been so different and it's a lot more about a new beginning and a new way of life, revelations, things that you understand about yourself, yeah just a very different experience.
So yeah, we talk about some of those things so I'm really intrigued to read this book and see how this informs more of my own experience and thinking. In 1996, how old will I have been? 32. So yeah, I mean I wouldn't have had a clue back then about what all this means, but yeah it's definitely a book for me whose time has come. So I shall share a bit more about that with you as I read it.
So there we go, first little voice note for my new Sage and Siren publication and I look forward to chatting again soon. Bye for now.
